Step 1: Nail Preparation
- Clean the Nails: Wash your hands and thoroughly dry your nails. Remove any old polish with a non-acetone nail polish remover.
- Cuticle Care: Apply a cuticle remover, then gently push back the cuticles with an orange stick or cuticle pusher.
- Shape the Nails: File your nails to the desired shape using a nail file. Smooth the edges and surface of the nails with a buffer to remove shine.
- Dehydrate the Nails: Wipe the nails with lint-free wipes soaked in a nail dehydrator or rubbing alcohol to remove any oils and dust.
Step 2: Applying the Base Coat
- Base Coat: Apply a thin layer of base coat to each nail, ensuring full coverage without touching the cuticle.
- Cure: Cure the base coat under a UV lamp for 2 minutes or an LED lamp for 30-60 seconds.
Step 3: Applying the Color Gel Polish
- First Color Layer: Apply a thin, even layer of gel polish colour to each nail. Thin layers prevent bubbling and ensure smooth application.
- Cure: Cure the colour layer under the lamp (2 minutes for UV, 30-60 seconds for LED).
- Second Color Layer: Apply a second thin layer of gel polish colour to achieve a rich, opaque finish.
- Cure: Cure the second colour layer under the lamp for the same duration.
Step 4: Applying the Top Coat
- Top Coat: Apply a thin layer of top coat to seal the colour and add shine. Ensure to cap the free edge of the nail to prevent chipping.
- Cure: Cure the top coat under the lamp (2 minutes for UV, 30-60 seconds for LED).
Step 5: Finishing Touches
- Remove Sticky Residue: After curing the top coat, there may be a sticky layer left. Remove it by wiping the nails with a lint-free wipe soaked in isopropyl alcohol or a specific gel cleanser.
- Cuticle Oil: Finish by applying cuticle oil and gently massaging it into the cuticles to hydrate and nourish.
Additional Tips
- Precision: Apply each layer as thinly and evenly as possible, avoiding the cuticle area to prevent lifting.
- Curing: Ensure each layer is fully cured before applying the next one to avoid premature chipping.
- Clean Workspace: Maintain a clean working area to avoid dust and debris contaminating the gel polish.
By following these steps, you can achieve a professional, long-lasting gel manicure with HD Hollywood Gel Polish.
